Thyroid Test:
There are two types of thyroid tests:
i. Thyroid Scan
ii. Thyroid Uptake
Thyroid scan and uptake employs small amounts of radioactive materials known as radiotracers, a specialized camera, and a computer to reveal information about your thyroid's size, shape, position, and function that is often inaccessible through conventional imaging procedures
Bone Scan
Working Procedure:
i. At first radiotracer, 99mTc is given by intravenous injection to the patient 30 minutes before the test
ii. After 30 minutes, the patient is lied down on a movable examination table with head tipped backward and neck extended. The gamma camera will then take a series of images, capturing images of the whole body from different angles. The patient needs to remain still for brief periods of time while the camera is taking pictures.
iii. Then the image is processed by the software and analyzed to see if there is any cancer cell or not.
